US & China have agreed to establish direct military to military communication channels to manage potential crises & prevent misunderstandings.
This landmark decision follows President Donald Trump’s G2 meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Busan, South Korea.
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth met China’s Minister of National Defence, Admiral Dong Jun, in Malaysia and confirmed that both sides have agreed to strengthen communication, maintain bilateral stability & create mechanisms to de-escalate any emerging tensions.
Hegseth described the discussions as highly constructive, emphasising that stability & strong relations remain the best path for both nations.
Trump also highlighted the singnificance of the meeting on social media, calling it a great one for both our countries & stating that it will lead to lasting peace & success.
While welcomed in Washington and Beijing, the move is being closely observed by regional capitals such as Delhi, Tokyo & Canberra, where officials are monitoring potential implications for Asia-Pacific security.
