The Pakistan Super League is set for a historic shake-up as the PSL working committee has approved a player auction model for Season 11 replacing the traditional draft system. This major change comes as the league expands to eight teams including two new franchises aiming to boost competitiveness and commercial growth. Existing teams including Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators and Hyderabad voted in favor of the auction while the new sides will build their squads entirely from the player pool giving every team a fair chance to strengthen their lineup. Under the new retention rules franchises can hold on to four players each with the option to move one into a lower category as a brand ambassador. The working committee has also proposed a hybrid drauction system for the new teams blending auction flexibility with retention principles. These recommendations are now awaiting final approval from PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi who is expected to make an official announcement soon. PSL Season 11 is scheduled to kick off on March 26 and with the auction model in place fans can expect bigger moves strategic team building and exciting battles both on and off the field as the league enters a new era of professional cricket in Pakistan.
