A Russian strike on Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, has killed one person and injured six others, according to the city’s mayor. The attack took place late Sunday, with emergency teams responding to the damage.
The strike hit the Industrialnyi district, where an administrative building and several vehicles caught fire. Around ten multi-story residential buildings were also reported damaged in the attack.
Emergency crews worked to extinguish the fires and assess the damage. Police, medics, bomb-disposal teams and other municipal services were involved in the response as authorities searched the affected area.
Ukrainian officials said the attack involved Banderol munitions, weapons that Russia has increasingly used against targets in Ukraine. The strike adds to a series of recent attacks on Kharkiv, a city located close to the Russian border.
The latest casualties come amid a broader Russian aerial campaign across Ukraine. Overnight, Ukrainian authorities said Russia launched more than 200 drones, with strikes reported at multiple locations across the country.
Kharkiv continues to face repeated attacks as the war enters another phase of intensified aerial strikes. Local authorities are assessing the damage and supporting those affected, while emergency operations continue following the latest assault.
