The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced an extension for bids on two new Pakistan Super League franchises pushing the deadline from December 15 to December 22. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the move comes amid growing interest from investors across Europe the United States and the Middle East.
The PSL which began in 2016 with five teams and expanded to six in 2018 is set for further growth with the addition of these two new franchises in its 11th edition next year. This marks the league’s first major restructuring in seven years bringing the total number of teams to eight.
Ahead of the January 6 auction for the new franchises the PCB is hosting a roadshow in New York today to engage with international investors. Chairman Naqvi will be joined by Pakistan T20 captain Salman Ali Agha along with players Shan Masood Abrar Ahmed Faheem Ashraf Saim Ayub and Saud Shakeel. The roadshow follows a successful event last week at London’s iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground which drew widespread attention and strong investor interest.
Meanwhile the PSL continues to attract players looking for stability and opportunity. England’s David Willey recently praised the league highlighting the certainty and security it provides compared to other competitions.
