The controversy surrounding FBI Director Kash Patel deepened this week after reports emerged alleging that he used a $60 million government aircraft to attend his girlfriend’s musical performance at a wrestling event, all while the US government remains in shutdown & thousands of federal employees go unpaid.
According to flight records, the jet registered to the Department of Justice made a short trip from Virginia to Pennsylvania State University on 25th October, where Patel’s girlfriend was performing at the Real American Freestyle wrestling show, an event co-founded by the late Hulk Hogan.
The 2 were photographed together at the venue, sparking outrage over the apparent misuse of public resources.
Tracking data reportedly shows the FBI jet departed Virginia, landed in Pennsylvania for roughly 2 hours & then flew onward to Nashville, where Patel’s girlfriend resides.
While no passenger manifest has been released, the timing & route of the flight have raised serious ethical & financial questions.
Critics argue that while it’s not inherently wrong to support a partner, doing so using taxpayer-funded aircraft during a government shutdown is deeply irresponsible, especially when FBI analysts & other federal workers are either furloughed or working without pay.
This isn’t the first time Patel has faced such accusations. Lawmakers have previously criticised him for overusing government aircraft for personal reasons, including attending private sporting events & non-official trips.
Though the FBI Director is allowed to travel by private jet due to the need for secure communications, reports suggest that Patel has repeatedly abused this privilege, blurring the line between official duty & personal luxury.
