Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has launched a blistering attack on the PTI, accusing the party & its founder Imran Khan of supporting and facilitating terrorists under the guise of politics.
Speaking at multiple press conferences in Islamabad, Tarar claimed that PTI had brought back militants, resettled them in Pakistan & provided them protection in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that the party’s provincial government acted as a facilitator for extremist networks.
Tarar alleged that behind this support structure lies a massive black economy tied to smuggling of non custom paid vehicles, fuel, timber, narcotics & other goods.
“These illegal revenues have long funded the ‘movement of chaos,’” he said, accusing certain PTI leaders of having direct links to smuggling & drug networks.
He further claimed that PTI’s recent nomination of Sohail Afridi for the Chief Minister’s post in KP was a deliberate attempt to empower pro-militant elements after the resignation of Ali Amin Gandapur, whom Tarar said was removed for failing to meet Imran Khan’s expectations.
The minister asserted that PTI’s actions were aimed at destabilising peace & national integrity, adding, “Either you stand with Pakistan against terrorism, or you stand with the terrorists, there is no middle ground.”
Tarar reiterated that Pakistan’s national security policy “will continue to be made in Islamabad, not in Kabul,” & emphasised the government’s determination to eradicate militancy under the National Action Plan.
He also referenced the London court verdict against YouTuber Adil Raja as “a moral defeat for PTI’s propaganda network abroad.”
For Tarar, the choice for Pakistan’s political class is now absolute neutrality is no longer an option in the fight against terrorism and the black economy.
