Rishi Sunak is facing a cabinet wipeout, as a bombshell new poll shows that as many as six of his ministers could lose their seats.

MRP polling by Stonehaven shows that Chancellor Jeremy Hunt and Justice Secretary Alex Chalk could both lose their seats.

Labour would win a 90-seat majority, with Tory numbers collapsing to 196 seats.

The projected results would be the worst recorded by any Tory leader since William Hague’s party was defeated in 2001.

Jeremy Hunt would lose his seat to the Liberal Democrats

A 90-seat majority would be the Labour Party’s largest since 2001.

According to the polling, Hunt and Chalk would both be unseated by the Lib Dems.

Greg Hands, the party’s Chairman, would lose his Chelsea and Fulham seat to Labour.

Meanwhile, Welsh Secretary David TC Davies would be unseated by Labour.

Chief Whip Simon Hart and International Development Minister Andrew Mitchell would lose their seats to Starmer’s party.

Former business secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg would also be unseated.

The poll, conducted on behalf of the Times, surveyed 2,000 voters from England, Wales, and Scotland between August 29 2023 and August 31 2023.

The swing came after Sunak unveiled a bold new approach to tackling climate change, watering down many of the Government’s eco-policies.

The Prime Minister used his speech to promise to bring an end to “heavy-handed policies”, including taxes on eating meat and forcing voters to install expensive insulation.

The speech saw him herald a new approach to tackling climate change, warning: “We risk losing the consent of the British people” for net zero policies.”

He said the UK is “proud to be a world leader in reaching net zero by 2050 – but we simply won’t achieve it until we change”.

The Prime Minister said the new approach will be “more realistic” and “ease the burden” on families.

He said: “In a democracy, this is the only realistic path to net zero.

“Consent, not imposition. That’s how we’ll turn the challenge of net zero into the greatest opportunity and the greatest achievement of our lifetime.”

Sunak added: “We are going to change the way our politics works.”
