Eighteen-year-old Mariam Eniola Bolaji is the first African to win a medal in badminton at the Paralympics - a feat yet to be achieved at the Olympics by an African competitor.

The Nigerian won bronze in the women’s SL3 Para-badminton and amazed many fans who believe her future is bright.

Bolaji has reduced mobility in her left leg after it was damaged in a car crash when she was a child.

She told OceanNewsUK she was dedicating her medal to her late coach, Bello Rafiu Oyebanji, who died in a car accident in 2021.
