Former Justice Secretary Sir Robert Buckland has become the first Conservative casualty of the 2024 General Election.

Buckland, who was first elected as the MP for South Swindon, saw his 6,625 majority slashed as Labour candidate Heidi Alexander picked up the Wiltshire seat by 9,606 votes.

The swing represented as 16 per cent from the Conservative Party to Labour.

Reform UK also received 6,194 votes in South Swindon, marginally more than the 5,920 picked up by Ukip in 2015.
