An obvious spelling mistake has been spotted on a new large city road sign.
The sign on the A131, on the outskirts of Chelmsford, shows the city as "Chelmsord" without an "f".
Essex County Council apologised to residents for the "unfortunate mistake".
It confirmed the error, which was not present at the design stage, appeared during printing and a replacement sign would be "installed as soon as possible".
Essex Highways said: "We apologise to local residents about this unfortunate mistake. "The mistake was not present in the design that Essex Highways signed off, but appeared during printing and the developer is aware that it needed to be replaced as a priority.
"The replacement will be installed as soon as possible."
