A Russian drone attack has struck a school in Kyiv, setting part of the building on fire as Ukraine faces another wave of aerial attacks on the capital.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the school was hit by a jet-powered drone during the latest strikes. Students were inside at the time but had moved into a shelter, and no casualties were reported.
The attack caused a fire at the school, with emergency crews responding as smoke rose from the damaged building. The incident comes amid repeated Russian drone and missile attacks targeting Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
Jet-powered drones have become an increasingly visible part of Russia’s aerial campaign, adding speed and new challenges for Ukrainian air-defence systems.
Ukrainian officials have repeatedly urged residents to follow air-raid warnings and move to shelters when attacks are detected.
The latest strike has also raised questions about the ability of Ukrainian forces to intercept growing numbers and different types of Russian drones.
Despite the damage, the absence of casualties at the school was attributed to students reaching safety before the impact.
Kyiv continues to strengthen its air-defence network as Russia maintains its long-range aerial attacks across Ukraine, while the war shows no immediate sign of ending.
