A Russian guided aerial bomb has struck an apartment building in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, injuring at least 22 people, including children. The overnight attack damaged residential buildings in the city as emergency crews rushed to the scene.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said rescuers, medics and other emergency workers were deployed to search the damaged building and assist those affected.

Local officials said several children were among the injured, with some requiring medical treatment. The strike hit the city’s Saltivskyi district, while other areas were also targeted during the overnight attacks.

The attack was part of a wider wave of Russian aerial strikes across Ukraine, as Moscow continues to use drones and guided bombs against targets across the country.

In the capital Kyiv, authorities reported that a Russian drone struck a petrol station, causing a fire. Emergency teams were sent to the site, while officials assessed the damage.

Emergency crews in Kharkiv are continuing recovery operations and assessing the damage to buildings, while authorities monitor the situation for further attacks.

The latest strikes come amid an ongoing Russian aerial campaign across Ukraine, with civilian areas repeatedly affected and local authorities working to assist those injured and displaced.
