Hospitals across Gaza are facing a severe power crisis as shortages of fuel, engine oil and spare parts force medical facilities to ration electricity from already strained generators. At Nasser Hospital, one of four generators is out of service, while the remaining units are operating far beyond recommended maintenance intervals.

Doctors warn that every power cut could put critically ill patients at serious risk, especially those relying on ventilators and other life-support equipment. Even a short interruption can threaten patients whose treatment depends on a continuous electricity supply.

Medical teams are struggling to keep essential equipment running while conserving limited fuel. The pressure is also affecting refrigeration, lighting and other systems needed for hospital operations.

Humanitarian groups warn that the shortages extend beyond hospitals, threatening ambulances, water systems and other essential services across Gaza.

With supplies running low and generators under increasing strain, medical workers face difficult choices over how to distribute the remaining power.

The worsening energy crisis is adding another major challenge to Gaza’s already overstretched healthcare system, with hospitals warning that continued shortages could further endanger patients and reduce their ability to provide emergency care.
