Several trucks were seen burning near the Al-Wadiah border crossing between Yemen and Saudi Arabia after Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis claimed they had attacked vehicles coming from Saudi territory. Thick smoke and flames were seen rising from the trucks near the frontier.
The Houthis said the attack targeted trucks traveling through the border area. The footage showed multiple vehicles engulfed in flames, although details about casualties and the full extent of the damage remain unclear.
The incident comes as tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia have sharply increased. The group has also claimed attacks on Saudi military and energy facilities in recent days.
Saudi Arabia has condemned the attacks and vowed to take necessary measures to defend its territory and sovereignty. Riyadh has also called for an end to Houthi attacks on Saudi targets and regional shipping.
The renewed fighting marks a major escalation after years of relative calm under a 2022 truce. The latest violence is raising fears that the conflict could once again spread across Yemen and along key regional trade routes.
With both sides threatening further action, the Al-Wadiah incident adds to growing concerns over security along the Saudi-Yemen border. Any wider escalation could also put additional pressure on regional shipping and already fragile energy supplies.
