U.S. President Donald Trump says the United States could strike Iran’s heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain site “very soon,” raising fears of another major escalation in the conflict.
Pickaxe Mountain is located near Iran’s damaged Natanz uranium enrichment facility and contains deeply buried underground tunnel complexes. The site is considered difficult to reach because of its heavily protected underground construction.
Trump says Washington is closely monitoring activity around the facility. He warned that if the United States detects suspicious movements or signs of nuclear activity, American forces could respond with a powerful strike.
The threat comes as Washington continues its military campaign against Iran. Trump has repeatedly said the main objective is to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon and to weaken Iran’s ability to rebuild its nuclear infrastructure.
Iran has strongly condemned U.S. attacks and accused Washington of violating its sovereignty. Tehran has also carried out retaliatory strikes against American positions across the region, increasing the risk of a wider confrontation.
Any attack on Pickaxe Mountain could mark a major new phase in the conflict, particularly because of the facility’s underground location and its reported connection to Iran’s nuclear activities. The threat is likely to increase pressure on both sides as regional tensions remain high.
