Russia and Ukraine have carried out a new prisoner exchange, with 103 service members from each side returning home in the latest swap between the two countries.

The exchange provides another rare moment of humanitarian cooperation between Moscow and Kyiv, despite continued fighting along the front lines.

Ukraine confirmed that 103 of its prisoners have been released from Russian captivity. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the returning Ukrainians include members of the Armed Forces, State Border Guard Service and National Guard.

Some of those released fought in Mariupol and across the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipro and Sumy sectors.

Ukraine’s human rights commissioner said the released service members are between 26 and 59 years old, with some suffering from serious injuries or illnesses.

Russia’s Defence Ministry also confirmed that 103 Russian soldiers were handed back as part of the exchange.

The latest swap was reportedly supported by international mediation, providing families on both sides with the long-awaited return of their loved ones.

While peace negotiations remain stalled and combat continues, prisoner exchanges remain one of the few areas where Russia and Ukraine continue to reach agreements.

For those coming home, the exchange marks the end of captivity—and the beginning of recovery and reunion with their families.
