Ukraine has launched one of its largest drone offensives against Russia since the beginning of the war, with hundreds of drones targeting Moscow and surrounding areas.

Russian officials said around 600 drones were directed toward the Moscow region, while the Defence Ministry reported that more than 800 Ukrainian drones were intercepted or destroyed nationwide.

The attack had deadly consequences. An 83-year-old man was killed in the Moscow region, while several people were reported injured.

A major fire also erupted at a Wildberries distribution warehouse in Koledino, near Podolsk, around 45 kilometres south of Moscow. Dramatic footage showed thick smoke rising from the facility as emergency crews responded. Another logistics facility in Domodedovo was also damaged.

The strikes represent a significant escalation in Ukraine’s campaign to hit Russian logistics and economic infrastructure deep behind the front lines.

Ukraine has increasingly targeted large warehouses and distribution hubs, arguing that some are connected to military supply chains. Russia, however, has accused Kyiv of deliberately attacking civilian infrastructure.

The latest barrage comes as both sides intensify long-range drone warfare, with attacks increasingly reaching major population centres far from the battlefield.

The assault is likely to further raise tensions and could trigger additional Russian retaliation against targets across Ukraine.
