Norway has praised Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role in efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran, highlighting Islamabad’s contribution alongside Qatar.
Norwegian officials say Pakistan’s mediation helped create space for Washington and Tehran to move toward an Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and a roadmap for continued negotiations.
The framework includes discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions, regional security and mechanisms to prevent further escalation, while also addressing security concerns linked to Lebanon and the Strait of Hormuz.
Pakistan has maintained that its approach throughout the crisis has been focused on dialogue, de-escalation and creating conditions for direct engagement between the two sides.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has credited the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan's leadership, while Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has also received recognition for his role in supporting the mediation process.
The recognition from Norway adds to international acknowledgment of Islamabad's efforts to prevent the conflict from widening.
With the ceasefire framework facing a crucial period, Pakistan says it will continue supporting dialogue and working with international partners toward a peaceful and lasting resolution.
