Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has carried out a major reshuffle of the country's senior military leadership, filling six key positions across the armed forces, the Revolutionary Guards and the Basij.
Major General Ali Abdollahi has been appointed chief of staff of Iran's armed forces, with Kioumars Heydari named as his deputy. Meanwhile, Ahmad Vahidi has been appointed commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, with Mostafa Izadi serving as his deputy.
