Iran says it is not holding direct talks with the United States, but messages are still being exchanged between the two sides through intermediaries as efforts to revive diplomacy continue.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran currently has no formal negotiations with Washington, while confirming that indirect communications are taking place through third countries.
Araghchi said Iran would not resume direct negotiations while Tehran believes Washington is violating an interim agreement signed in June. He called on the United States to address what Iran describes as violations before formal talks can restart.
The indirect messages come as mediators continue working to reduce tensions between Washington and Tehran, with major disagreements remaining over military action, sanctions, Iran's nuclear program, and regional security.
The Strait of Hormuz is also a central issue. Iran says an arrangement with Oman to establish temporary shipping routes is close, but warns that the agreement alone would not guarantee the immediate reopening of the strategic waterway.
For now, diplomatic channels remain open through intermediaries, even as direct negotiations remain suspended.
The latest developments suggest that while Tehran and Washington are still far apart, communication has not completely broken down leaving the door open for renewed diplomacy if key conditions can be resolved.
