India's youth-led Cockroach Janta Party, or CJP, says it will continue its nationwide protest campaign despite police crackdowns and restrictions on its online platforms, as anger over the NEET examination scandal continues to grow.
The movement, founded by Abhijeet Dipke, rapidly gained popularity on social media by combining political satire with criticism of youth unemployment, examination irregularities, and government accountability. Within days of its launch, the group's Instagram following surged past 22 million, making it one of India's largest online youth movements.
Speaking after recent demonstrations in New Delhi, Dipke said, "They can block our pages, but they cannot block our rage," vowing that the movement would continue despite online restrictions and police action.
The protests were sparked by allegations surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 examination, with demonstrators demanding greater accountability, education reforms, and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Police have used barricades, detentions, and crowd-control measures to stop protesters from marching toward Parliament, while authorities say the restrictions were necessary to maintain public order.
Despite the confrontations, the movement continues to attract support from students, professionals, and opposition politicians, evolving from an online campaign into one of India's most significant youth-led protest movements in recent years.
