Iran says safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz cannot be guaranteed without coordination with Tehran, signaling that the strategic waterway remains closely tied to regional security despite the recent US-Iran peace agreement. Iranian officials said any commercial or military transit through the strait must take Iran's security concerns into account, emphasizing the country's role in maintaining stability in the Gulf.

The statement comes amid renewed international focus on the Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly a quarter of the world's seaborne oil and a significant share of global liquefied natural gas supplies pass. Recent discussions over maritime security and freedom of navigation have intensified following the easing of regional tensions.

Iran maintained that it is committed to regional stability but argued that lasting maritime security requires cooperation among Gulf nations and coordination with Tehran. Officials stressed that unilateral actions or external pressure would not contribute to long-term stability in the waterway.

The remarks come as the United States and Gulf Arab states continue to advocate unrestricted freedom of navigation through the strait. Analysts say the latest comments underscore the continuing strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and the need for sustained diplomatic engagement to ensure the uninterrupted flow of global trade and energy supplies.
