Two women are among three civilians injured after cross-border firing in the South Waziristan region of Pakistan, according to security sources.
The incident reportedly took place in the Zlol Khel area of Angoor Adda, where security officials say militants attempted to infiltrate from across the border but were intercepted by Pakistani forces.
Sources claim that the infiltration attempt was foiled by the Pakistan Army, which launched an operation to prevent the group from entering Pakistani territory.
Following the failed attempt, firing was reported from across the border, which security officials say targeted nearby civilian areas inside Pakistan.
As a result, three civilians, including two women, were injured and shifted to Wana Hospital for treatment.
Security sources described the situation as a provocation following the disruption of the infiltration attempt, adding that Pakistani forces responded to secure the area.
Officials further stated that Pakistan Army troops carried out retaliatory action in response to the cross-border firing, targeting multiple positions across the border.
The exchange has raised fresh concerns over border security in Pakistan’s tribal regions and the safety of civilians living near the frontier.
Authorities say monitoring and security operations across Pakistan’s border areas remain ongoing to prevent further escalation.
