Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian has publicly set out three firm conditions he says must be met before the ongoing war with the United States and Israel can come to an end offering Tehran’s own framework for a cease‑fire after weeks of intense fighting. In a post on social media platform X Pezeshkian said Iran will only agree to halt hostilities if its “legitimate rights” are formally recognised by Washington and Jerusalem a demand that Tehran says encompasses its political security and regional interests and reflects deep mistrust of its adversaries. He added that payment of reparations must be made for the widespread damage wrought by air strikes and military operations that Iranian authorities say have destroyed thousands of civilian buildings and infrastructure. Finally the president said there must be firm international guarantees ensuring Iran will not face future aggression from the U.S. Israel or their allies effectively seeking third‑party security assurances as part of any end‑of‑war deal. Pezeshkian framed the conditions as the only viable “off‑ramp” from a conflict that erupted after joint U.S.‑Israeli strikes on Iranian territory in late February triggering Iranian retaliation across the Middle East and raising global fears of broader escalation. Tehran’s proposal underscores a widening diplomatic gulf coming as U.S. officials including President Donald Trump have suggested the war could end soon but have not signalled willingness to negotiate on the terms Iran is demanding even as international powers call for de‑escalation and efforts to protect civilians continue.
