Pakistan’s government has announced plans to launch a new Amazon‑style digital marketplace aimed at connecting small and medium‑sized enterprises directly with buyers around the world a major step in boosting exports and expanding economic opportunity for local businesses. Officials from the Ministry of Industries and Production say the platform will act as a centralised online hub modelled on global e‑commerce leaders like Amazon Alibaba and AliExpress allowing Pakistani SMEs to showcase and sell their products internationally with ease.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries Haroon Akhtar Khan told a high‑level review meeting that the initiative forms part of a broader push to digitise the SME sector and integrate it into the global digital economy helping smaller firms overcome traditional market barriers.
The portal is expected to offer international buyers easy access to high‑quality products made in Pakistan while giving exporters a platform to reach customers beyond regional borders a move officials say could significantly boost Pakistan’s export footprint.
Government plans also include support for value‑addition branding and export development training for SME clusters aimed at improving competitiveness and helping businesses benefit from expanded digital sales channels.
By creating a marketplace that operates on globally recognised e‑commerce standards the government hopes to unlock new opportunities for MSMEs strengthen supply chains and attract foreign buyers contributing to economic growth and job creation across the country.
