Pakistan’s military campaign against the Taliban along the Pakistan‑Afghanistan border dubbed Operation Ghazab lil‑Haq has entered its ninth consecutive day with significant reported gains officials say. Federal Information Minister Tarar told journalists that the offensive aimed at rooting out militant safe havens used for cross‑border attacks has so far killed 527 Afghan Taliban combatants and wounded more than 755 others while 237 Taliban check posts have been destroyed and 38 captured and subsequently demolished by Pakistani forces.
Security sources add that 205 tanks armored vehicles and artillery guns belonging to the militant ranks have been eliminated and 62 key locations across Afghanistan were effectively struck by aerial operations disrupting insurgent lines of communication and supply.
The offensive has combined air and ground actions across multiple sectors including aerial raids on Taliban positions that have forced fighters to retreat or abandon their posts while precision strikes have targeted bases and military infrastructure in areas such as Kurram and adjacent border zones.
Officials say the operation was launched in response to what Islamabad described as unprovoked attacks from Taliban fighters and allied militants based in Afghanistan and that it will continue until Pakistan’s strategic objectives including preventing cross‑border terrorism are met. Military sources also point to targeted strikes on major Taliban military sites including reported damage to infrastructure in Kandahar and other regions linked to militant command structures.
Despite military successes the offensive has drawn concern from international observers with the United Nations urging restraint and a cease‑fire amid reports of civilian displacement and growing humanitarian needs on both sides of the border.
Pakistan’s leaders say the operation underscores their resolve to defend national security and prevent foreign‑armed militants from using Afghan soil to carry out attacks emphasizing that the campaign will remain in force until insurgent networks are irreversibly weakened.
