British police have arrested former ambassador and senior political figure Peter Mandelson in connection with the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
The 72 year old was detained on Monday February 23 on suspicion of misconduct in public office following documents linked to the U.S. Department of Justice. Authorities say Mandelson may have shared sensitive government information with Epstein while holding senior roles including as business secretary and later as the UK’s ambassador to the United States.
Footage showed Mandelson being escorted from his north London home after police executed search warrants at his properties in Camden and Wiltshire. This arrest comes days after Prince Andrew was also investigated in a related probe highlighting the widening scope of the Epstein files.
Mandelson a veteran of the Labour Party and former cabinet minister had already resigned from the House of Lords and lost his envoy role following earlier revelations about his links to Epstein.
