The United Arab Emirates is partnering with India to build a national scale artificial intelligence supercomputer with a massive 8 exaflop computing capacity officials announced at the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
The system capable of performing eight quintillion calculations per second will be delivered by Abu Dhabi based tech group G42 and U.S. AI hardware maker Cerebras in collaboration with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.
Hosted in India the supercomputer will operate under Indian governance and data sovereign frameworks ensuring all data stays within national jurisdiction and meets security standards making it a cornerstone of the India AI Mission.
Officials say the new facility will dramatically expand India’s domestic AI infrastructure far surpassing existing computing systems and accelerating advanced AI research model training and deployment.
Once operational access will be available to universities government agencies start ups small and medium enterprises and other public and private sector users lowering barriers to AI innovation across sectors including healthcare agriculture and education.
The announcement follows strengthened ties between the UAE and India after their fifth Strategic Dialogue in late 2025 and the UAE president’s visit to New Delhi in early 2026 expanding cooperation in defence technology and energy.
At 8 exaflops roughly 19 times the combined power of India’s current top AI systems the project positions India to compete with global leaders in high performance AI computing while fostering domestic research and innovation strength.
