Poland has temporarily closed two regional airports after military aviation operations were activated in its airspace authorities said Tuesday.
The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency announced that flights at Rzeszow and Lublin airports were suspended as jets and other military aircraft began operations across the country’s skies.
Polish commanders said the action followed long‑range Russian air strikes on Ukrainian territory prompting Warsaw to move military aviation into place as a precautionary security measure.
Both airports serve southeastern Poland a region close to the Ukrainian border and strategically important for military logistics and air traffic.
Officials stressed that the closures were temporary aimed at ensuring safe and unrestricted operations for military aircraft during heightened regional tensions.
The move comes amid ongoing conflict in Ukraine where Russian forces have intensified attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
Poland has repeatedly reinforced its airspace in recent months as part of NATO‑linked defensive postures and authorities say this latest step was taken out of caution as the situation evolves.
