The United Arab Emirates has launched a sweeping billion‑dirham humanitarian campaign aimed at tackling life‑threatening hunger among the world’s youngest and most vulnerable children. Unveiled by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum the ‘Had Al Hayah’ or ‘Edge of Life’ initiative seeks to mobilize at least AED 1 billion in donations from local and global donors to save five million children under the age of five who are facing severe malnutrition and hunger.

The drive timed to coincide with the holy month of Ramadan builds on the UAE’s long tradition of launching major charitable efforts to support global humanitarian causes. Organizers say the campaign will work in partnership with leading international organizations including UNICEF Save the Children the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation and Action Against Hunger to deliver urgent nutritional aid medical assistance and life‑saving support to the world’s most desperate communities.

Sheikh Mohammed described the initiative as a response to staggering global child hunger figures noting that tens of millions of young children suffer from malnutrition with millions at risk of dying if immediate action isn’t taken. Through grassroots contributions and institutional support the campaign aims not just to provide emergency feeding programmes but to galvanize global solidarity and help improve long‑term food security for families in crisis‑hit regions.

The “Edge of Life” campaign reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian leadership leveraging the observance of Ramadan to inspire charitable giving and shared responsibility for protecting children’s right to life and dignity across the world.
