Pakistan has successfully launched its second indigenous Electro Optical satellite EO 2 from the Yangjiang Seashore Launch Centre in China marking a significant step forward for the country’s space programme.
According to Suparco EO 2 was conceived, designed and integrated entirely in Pakistan at the Satellite Research and Development Centre. Developed through in house research and systems engineering the satellite reflects growing national capability in satellite design payload integration testing and mission readiness.
EO 2 is set to operate in coordination with the earlier EO 1 satellite observing the Earth under different illumination conditions to improve surface feature interpretation and enhance change detection. This combined operation will strengthen imaging continuity and analytical accuracy for national applications.
Suparco said the mission reinforces Pakistan’s focus on applied research human resource development and the systematic expansion of indigenous space infrastructure. The successful deployment of EO 2 enhances the country’s Earth observation fleet providing vital data for planning governance and resource management while showcasing Pakistan’s commitment to developing reliable domestically engineered space systems.
