Pakistan and Uzbekistan have signed 28 agreements and memoranda of understanding to strengthen cooperation across a wide range of sectors Interior Ministry officials said. The accords cover trade defense agriculture technology education pharmaceuticals culture and disaster management reflecting a shared commitment to deepen bilateral engagement.
The agreements were exchanged during a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Officials from both countries highlighted that the accords will boost economic ties enhance regional connectivity and expand cultural exchange.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the historic and fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan saying the agreements open new avenues for mutual growth and development particularly in trade and technology sectors. President Mirziyoyev thanked Pakistan for the warm reception and emphasized that deeper cooperation will benefit both nations and strengthen regional stability.
Both leaders also set an ambitious goal to increase bilateral trade to $2 billion annually over the next five years signaling a major expansion in economic collaboration. Government officials and diplomats from both countries witnessed the signing of protocols and MoUs marking a significant milestone in the long standing Pakistan Uzbekistan partnership.
The agreements underscore a strategic effort to enhance cooperation across multiple areas reinforce economic ties and ensure a more connected and collaborative future between the two nations.
