Pakistan is setting up a dedicated Special Protection Unit to safeguard Chinese nationals working across the country Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Thursday. The move comes amid growing concerns about security for foreign workers on major projects.
Naqvi spoke with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reaffirming the enduring Pakistan China strategic partnership. The ambassador condemned recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan targeting civilians and security forces and expressed deep sympathy for affected families emphasizing China’s solidarity with Pakistan.
The minister said the attacks were ‘organized and premeditated,’ but Pakistani security forces responded swiftly. He highlighted that the new unit equipped with modern Chinese technology will strengthen protective measures and improve counter terrorism coordination.
Both officials discussed ongoing operations intelligence sharing and broader cooperation on internal security and cybercrime. They stressed that no adversary can undermine the historic Pakistan China friendship reaffirming mutual commitment to security and development collaboration.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry senior ministry officials and representatives from the Chinese Embassy attended the meeting highlighting the priority both nations place on safeguarding Chinese citizens and projects in Pakistan.
