Dubai is rolling out a major new transport plan designed to help commuters avoid long delays in traffic by offering a faster way to travel across the city.
Officials from the Roads and Transport Authority have announced the launch of the Dubai Loop a high-speed underground transport system being developed in partnership with The Boring Company. This futuristic network will run beneath busy districts offering passengers a rapid alternative to surface roads that are often congested during peak hours.
The first phase of the project will build a 6.4 kilometer route linking the Dubai International Financial Centre with the Dubai Mall and surrounding areas. What can take around 20 minutes by road in heavy traffic could be cut to just about three minutes using the Loop.
Costing roughly AED 565 million the pilot phase is expected to be completed in about a year after the design work with further construction to extend the network over 22 kilometers and include nearly 19 stations in future phases.
Once operational this system will use electric vehicles running through dedicated tunnels bypassing surface congestion and significantly speeding up journeys across key parts of the city. It aims to serve thousands of passengers daily and become an integral part of Dubai’s urban mobility network.
The Dubai Loop reflects the emirate’s broader push to embrace advanced transportation solutions and slash commute times for residents and visitors alike moving beyond traditional road travel to a more efficient future-focused model.
