The Pakistan Super League has unveiled a landmark set of structural reforms ahead of its 11th edition confirming the switch from its traditional draft system to a full player auction model in what officials describe as a historic move to enhance transparency competition and player earnings. Under the new rules each franchise can retain up to four players limited to one per category while the mentor brand ambassador and right to match options have been removed opening the way for an open merit based auction. Teams will also be allowed one direct signing of a foreign player who did not feature in the previous season with a raised salary purse of USD 1.6 million per franchise aimed at attracting top talent. The tournament set to begin on March 26 will also see Faisalabad return as a host city expanding the league’s footprint. PSL Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the reforms reflect the league’s vision to modernize domestic cricket and strengthen its global competitiveness emphasizing that the auction system will bring excitement and fairness for both players and fans. He added that these changes signal Pakistan’s continued commitment to world class cricket infrastructure and creating opportunities for emerging talent while maintaining a high quality entertaining tournament for supporters nationwide.
