Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado has vowed to return home “as soon as possible” signaling a potential shift in the country’s turbulent political landscape. Machado a prominent critic of the Maduro government made the announcement in a televised statement from abroad emphasizing her commitment to restoring democracy and holding leaders accountable.
She sharply condemned interim president Delcy Rodríguez calling her a key figure behind corruption persecution and human rights abuses and stressed that she is rejected by the Venezuelan people. Despite the volatile situation following the U.S. capture of Nicolás Maduro Machado said she is determined to return to Venezuela and play an active role in rebuilding democratic governance. Machado also noted that she has not been in contact with U.S. officials since October 2025 underscoring her independence and focus on Venezuelan led solutions.
