High in the remote mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina an unexpected figure rides on horseback. Dressed like a Viking complete with traditional clothing and symbols Stipe Pleic has chosen a life inspired by ancient Norse warriors far removed from modern routines.
Pleic once worked as a construction laborer in Germany earning a stable income. But after years abroad he abandoned city life and returned to his native village of Stipanici seeking freedom simplicity and a deeper connection with nature.
From his Viking themed home which he calls Valhalla Pleic forges axes tools and handcrafted souvenirs etched with Norse runes. His workshop has become a destination for visitors from across Europe and beyond curious to meet a modern day Viking living in the Balkans. Unlike the raiders of history Pleic’s lifestyle is peaceful. He earns his living through craftsmanship creativity and storytelling. He describes his way of life as calm independent and fulfilling.
For Pleic the Viking spirit is not about conquest but about self reliance and harmony with nature. His journey shows how ancient traditions can inspire modern lives turning a personal dream of freedom into reality high in Bosnia’s mountains.
